Google Analytics for Website Traffic Analysis

Using Google Analytics for Website Monitoring

Google Analytics is a monitoring and reporting tool by Google which will give insights into your website and how it is doing in terms of traffic and where that traffic is landing on your website. For example you may have an article that is well written and informative and is getting ranked highly on search engines such as Google or Bing. Or you may have pages which are not getting traffic and may need some SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) improvements in order to rank better and start receiving more traffic.

To start monitoring your website using Google Analytics you simply need a Google account and access to your website code, you then place a small javacript snippet into this code. When this is placed your website will be monitored for such things as unique traffic (how many users), bounce rates (users leaving the site directly after entering), pages per visit, and other useful information which will allow the implementation of an ongoing website management plan.

Google Analytics offers a reporting option which allows the export of statistics such as the ones described above. For clients of websitemanager.ie, these reports can be sent monthly on to clients.
